Hope you don't mind a question... but how would you compare drawing something small and limiting detail versus something like an Alex Toth design that is also limited in detail yet is meant for larger scale? I'm amazed at illustrators who can limit detail yet retain the polish... what a feat.
I hear ya'. But I meant do you think Toth treated his overall style sort of like how you approach drawing less detailed (smaller) pieces like this? Hopefully that made sense.
no. his ink lines had variations. his ink work showed a lot of emotion. and he wasn't depending on cell shading colors to show weight and volume. overall. and I'm just using disposable pens to do it faster. it's unfair to compare them.
